Indra Dhoj Gurung

Wurde 1958 in einem Dorf bei Pokhara/Westnepal als letzter von vier Söhnen geboren. Er gehört zum Volk der Gurung. Bereits mit 13 Jahren hatte er sein erstes Initiationserlebnis. Mit 18 Jahren trat er für 11 Jahre in die nepalesische Armee ein, um für die in bescheidenen Verhältnissen lebende Familie sorgen zu können. Von seinem Vater, den er von kleinauf bei seinen schamanistischen Sitzungen begleitete, übernahm er schließlich nach einer lamaistischen Ausbildung, dessen Heiltradition. Er arbeitet als Schamane und führt neben Heilungsritualen auch buddhistische Zeremonien als Lama durch. Seine Bekanntheit als Schamane ließ ihn zum „Hausschamanen“ der Universitätsklinik von Kathmandu werden.

…was born in 1958 in a village near Pokhara/West-Nepal. He was the youngest of four sons and is a member of the Gurung. At the very young age of 13 he was initiated into shamanism. From the age of 18 to 29 he was on duty in the army of Nepal in order to earn the living for his family which lived in poor circumstances. From his early childhood on Indra accompanied his father to shamanic sessions, and after his education as a Lama he took over his healing tradition. He works as a shaman and as a Lama and carries out rituals of health and buddhistic ceremonies. He is very well known and respected in Nepal and works exclusively as shaman of the University Hospital of Kathmandu.
